Welcome and Learning Objectives Copy Copy

Welcome to the workshop! We are so excited to deliver this workshop and we hope you are equally excited about taking it. We’d like to familiarize you with the sessions and what to expect from them.

What to Expect

This workshop is delivered in two parts. Each part involves:

  1. Assigned reading and completion of a worksheet in advance of the virtual synchronous session.
  1. The virtual synchronous sessions on Zoom will focus on sharing, discussion, and questions. Reminder, attendance at both sessions is mandatory. Upon completion of both sessions, you will receive your certificate.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Plan to effectively integrate a virtual simulation activity into a broader educational program.
  1. Apply simulation pedagogy (including pre-briefing, facilitation, debriefing, and evaluation) in the context of virtual simulations.
  1. Critically appraise ways to enact virtual simulations.

Optional Learning

We have included two optional learning modules for those who are interested in learning more or are new to the topics that we will be covering during the two sessions.

  1. Practical Fundamentals of Simulation – an introduction to the basics of simulation for those who do not have prior experience with using simulation for education. This will take approximately 4 hours to complete and is available in English only.
  1. Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in Virtual Simulation – an introduction to principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, and how these can be promoted in a virtual simulation activity. This will take approximately 1 hour to complete and is available in both French and English.

These modules can provide you with additional information and help you deepen your understanding of the subject matter.
